Take-home pay, including your city and school district taxes
Local income taxes are easy to miss. We use official state rate data for every city in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Ohio
678 cities and villages charge an income tax, and 214 school districts add their own. In Columbus, the 2.5% city tax on a $60,000 salary is $1,500.00 a year.
Pennsylvania
Local earned income tax, school district tax, the local services tax and the Philadelphia Wage Tax, for every Pennsylvania municipality.
Why we built this
In Ohio and Pennsylvania, local income taxes can take more from a paycheck than the state does, and the rules are easy to get wrong. City tax is charged on your Medicare wages, so a 401(k) doesn't reduce it. School district tax follows where you live, not where you work. Every rate on this site comes from the state's own published data, and every calculation rule is documented on our methodology page.
