How hourly pay becomes a paycheck
Your weekly pay is your hourly wage times your hours, plus overtime at 1.5 times your wage. Federal law requires that overtime rate for hours over 40 in a workweek for most hourly workers (US Department of Labor). Your yearly pay is your weekly pay times 52, split evenly across your paychecks.
Example: $25 an hour for 40 hours plus 5 overtime hours is $1,000 + $187.50 = $1,187.50 a week, or $2,375.00 every two weeks. In Columbus that paycheck takes home $1,875.69, after $499.31 in taxes, including $59.38 of city tax.
Ohio city tax is charged where you work, on your full wages including overtime, and a 401(k) does not lower it. School district tax depends on where you live; pick your district in the calculator if it has one.
